KIEV: Activists from the solidarity movement in Ukraine demanded at the US embassy the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
The text, signed by the directors of the Ukraine-Cuba Friendship Association, highlights that the demonstration coincided with the first anniversary of the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino and Antonio Guerrero, Cuban antiterrorists, who were imprisoned for more than 16 years for trying to prevent violent actions against Cuba.
The source indicates that the newly created organization ‘Stop the blockade against Cuba’ also participated in the demonstration and all together demanded the closure of the military base in Guantanamo and the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade.
Also, a letter to President Barack Obama was delivered at the US embassy in Kiev,in which demanded the end of the blockade.
‘To us, citizens of Ukraine, Cuba is a great friend, that helped tens of thousands of our children after the tragic nuclear disaster of Chernobyl’, states the text.
The letter was signed by the Ukraine-Cuba Friendship Association, the NGO ‘Children of Tarara’, the Union of Veterans of Afghanistan, the Union of Veterans of Cuba, the Socialist Party of Ukraine and the NGO ‘Altera’.
