KIEV: In May Ukrainian corn exports totaled 1002 KMT, which was almost 50% lower than in May 2015 (1939 KMT). Since the beginning of current season Ukraine exported 5% less corn than over the same period last season (15.11 MMT against 15.87 MMT during October-May 2014/15).
EU countries, China and Egypt remained largest importers of Ukrainian corn, as well as Tunisia, Israel and Iran. Half of the exported volume was purchased by EU countries against 30% last season. During eight month of the current season EU countries imported 32% more corn than in the whole 2014/15 MY (7834 KMT compared with 5907 KMT). Shipments to other countries lowered due to lower Ukrainian corn production compared to 2014 and higher demand from EU countries.
