KIEV: After two bad years, caused by the conflict in the east of the country, the investment climate in Ukraine has been pulling up again recently. Frederique Vogel of Holland Rosetta, sees the investments in horticulture increasing again. The country has a lot of potential for fruit and vegetable cultivation, says the representative. And a lot of investors are aiming for export with their production.
Sjaak Walraven of Fleuren Fruittrees from Baarlo talking to Ukrainian growers. We have had two uncertain years due to the war. Now we see that the parties that have money are starting to invest again,” says Frederique. “Like Europe, Ukraine is locked out of Russia and wants to enter the world market. The European Union is close but there is already a lot of supply there. Yet we are seeking contacts in the European network.”
Holland Rosetta started in 2005 as a company that introduced farmers and horticulturalists who wanted to go to Ukraine to the country. Soon after founding, this was moved to a representation of five Dutch companies and one Italian company in Ukraine. The assortment consists of blueberries, strawberry and asparagus plants. Seeds and hail nets and fruit trees are also brought onto the Ukrainian market by Holland Rosetta. “We have a demo garden in Ukraine where we show the various varieties,” says Frederique. “We also organise field days and training.”
