KIEV: According to official information, Ukraine exported 1382.7 KMT of wheat in November 2016. This volume is comparable with the same month last year (1380.4 KMT in November 2015), reports UkrAgroConsult. In the five months of season 2016/17, wheat exports from Ukraine increased 7.7% year-on-year to 9618.5 KMT from 8929.3 KMT in July-November 2015/16. India’s share in Ukrainian wheat exports continues expanding. In the period under review this market absorbed 10% of total wheat shipments from Ukraine that is comparable with this season’s deliveries of Ukrainian wheat to Egypt. Thailand, Indonesia and South Korea also remain major destination markets for Ukrainian wheat.
The European Union, which was the second largest importer of Ukrainian wheat in MY 2015/16, has not yet revived wheat imports from Ukraine this season. 450 KMT of wheat went to the EU market from Ukraine in the reporting period that is down almost two-thirds from last season (1324 KMT was imported in July-November 2015/16). The comparatively slow pace of Ukrainian wheat exports to the European Union’s market results from the following two factors: 1) new duty-free export quotas are still absent; 2) EU member countries purchase wheat in the EU domestic market.
