Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End game series delay to spring 2016

TOKYO: Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End game series has been delayed to spring 2016. The developers behind the game promised the wait would be worth it and continued, “Giving us a few extra months will make certain that ‘Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’ not only meets the team’s high standards, but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.”

The delay of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” was met with a great deal of shock by gamers, who after playing through the events of its predecessor, “Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception,” were heavily anticipating a 2015 release. Uncharted 4 was planned to be released during the holiday season with the high capacity of consumer purchasing expected to contribute to its popularity. The arid outlook to holiday season offerings from Sony could potentially be detrimental to Uncharted 4’s release in the spring of 2016, as well as other scheduled blockbuster titles.

With E3 drawing closer, the June-scheduled premier trade fair will be a chance for computer and video game publishers to showcase their offerings, leaving many to believe that the Uncharted 4 hold-up will shift the minds of game consumers to The Last of Us 2, expected to be presented at the exclusive exposition.

The saga of protagonist Nathan Drake has come to be adored worldwide, and this setback period will allow Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us sequel to garner the bulk of attention that was previously delegated to Uncharted 4. An overabundance of unsuccessful remakes and substance-lacking titles has avid gamers awaiting a worthy release, as the PlayStation 4 has yet to provide an exceptional game offering and The Last of Us 2 exemplifies a source of optimism for the PS4 and its positioning against rival Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One as a whole, as its precursor sold over 1.3 million copies and went on to sell 8 million copies by August 2014, with expectations high for the ensuing title.

Though the release of Uncharted 4 will precede The Last of Us 2, the delay of the Uncharted title is expected to inflict some damage in the form of fan following. Although both upcoming offerings come from developer Naughty Dog, the subsequent disappointment due to the spring 2016 rescheduling of Uncharted 4 may deviate the spotlight from the game. The Last of Us 2 could very well steal the show at E3 this June.
