NEW YORK: Authorities say they seized $30 million worth of heroin in a major drug bust in the Bronx.
Investigators say they found 141 pounds of heroin near 2830 Sedgwick Avenue and West 197th Street in Jerome Park.
Investigators say they approached Ramon Rivas and Jose Rodriguez while they sat in a Jeep Cherokee parked outside the building.
During a search of the car, they discovered 22 bricks of powdered heroin in a concealed compartment in the trunk of the car.
Police then searched Rivas’ house, where they say they found another 44 pounds of heroin and $50,000 cash hidden in the walls and floor.
Authorities later searched a Yonkers storage unit belonging to Rodriguez, where they say they seized another nine pounds of powder.
Both men have pleaded not guilty to drug charges.
