ESCONDIDO: U.S. Border Patrol agents on Interstate 15 arrested a man Tuesday who had heroin and methamphetamine hidden in his SUV.
At approximately 3 p.m., agents pulled over the driver of a 2003 Ford Escape near the intersection of I-15 and Highway 76. A Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the man’s vehicle and a search resulted in the discovery of eight bundles of narcotics taped onto the underside of the vehicle.
The eight packages contained 14.11 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, 2.65 pounds of black tar heroin, and 5.58 pounds of white heroin. Overall, the narcotics weighed 22.34 pounds and have an estimated street value of $281,690.
The man and drugs were turned over to agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration. The Ford Escape was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
