US border agents join “Kids and Trucks” event

ROCHESTER: Agents and vehicles assigned to U.S. Border Patrol Rochester Station recently joined other law enforcement agencies, first responders, and businesses to display trucks and vehicles at the annual “Kids and Trucks” event, hosted by Children’s Institute. Several thousand Rochester area families visited Frontier Field where children learned about the vehicles on display and their use. Rochester area families visit vehicle display and learn about mission and role of U.S. Border Patrol
“Our agents enjoyed the opportunity to meet the many parents and children visiting the event,” said Patrol Agent In Charge Michael Werthman. “As a member of the Rochester area law enforcement community, the U.S. Border Patrol was proud to have a presence, displaying vehicles and equipment,” Werthman said.
Children’s Institute Executive Director Dirk Hightower said, “Parents were impressed with the array of available vehicles, and how children were welcomed by participating organizations, said Children’s Institute Executive Director Dirk Hightower. “Border Patrol agents greeted the kids with open arms, resulting in a fantastic learning opportunity about their role and mission, along with other agencies and organizations” said Hightower.
Children’s Institute is a non-profit research center focused on improving the social-emotional health of children, and is affiliated with the University of Rochester. “Kids and Trucks” is an annual regional event, drawing families from upstate New York.
