CAMPO: U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a woman and man near Tierra Del Sol Road and State Route 94 yesterday morning who had one illegal alien passenger in their back seat and two illegal aliens locked inside their car trunk.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., a 1995 Toyota Camry was pulled over for a vehicle stop. There were three visible occupants inside. The agent questioned all three individuals and determined the passenger in the back seat was illegally present in the United States. Agents also then opened the car’s locked trunk and discovered two men inside.
Upon further questioning, it was determined that the two men in the trunk were Mexican nationals illegally present in the U.S. All five individuals were arrested and taken to a nearby station for processing. The 22-year-old U.S. citizen driver and her 22-year-old U.S. citizen passenger face Federal charges for human smuggling.
In Fiscal Year 2014, the San Diego Sector apprehended 29,911 people for entering the U.S. illegally.
To prevent the illicit smuggling of humans, drugs, and other contraband, the U.S. Border Patrol maintains a high level of vigilance on corridors of egress away from our Nation’s borders. To report suspicious activity to the U.S. Border Patrol, contact San Diego Sector at (619) 498-9900.
