FALFURRIAS: A Mexican national is lucky to be alive, thanks to Border Patrol agents from the Falfurrias Station, who rescued him early Friday morning.
“Border Patrol agents are well-trained in search-and-rescue techniques, and are dedicated to saving lives,” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz. “However, human smugglers are ruthless criminals who have no concern for human life. We urge people to not put their lives at risk by illegally crossing the border or by attempting to circumvent a checkpoint.”
The man was rescued after he was bitten on the hand by a snake and called 911. The Brooks County Sheriff’s Office dispatch contacted Border Patrol agents and notified them of the man’s urgent need for assistance. Agents located the man and began to provide first aid. The man was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Kingsville for treatment.
Once he is medically cleared for travel, the man will be returned to Mexico.
The Rio Grande Valley Sector is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
