SAN YSIDRO: San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents arrested two men near the San Ysidro Port of Entry who had nearly $450,000 in methamphetamine in their vehicles.
At approximately 11 a.m., a man was observed running north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the San Ysidro Port of Entry. A Border Patrol agent responded to the scene and located a man matching the description in a nearby parking lot off of Camino De La Plaza. The man was speaking with a second man near a Ford Focus sedan when the agent approached. The man was identified as a 22-year-old Mexican national and his companion was a 32-year-old U.S citizen. As the agent spoke with the men, a backup agent with a K-9 arrived to assist. The K-9 alerted to the Ford Focus, which was associated with the Mexican national. The K-9 also alerted to a nearby Jeep Grand Cherokee, which belonged to the U.S. citizen.

A search of the two vehicles revealed 31 bundles of methamphetamine. The bundles weighed 44.86 pounds and have an estimated street value of $448,600.
The two men and narcotics were turned over to agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration. The vehicles were seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
In fiscal year 2014, San Diego Sector intercepted 1,797 pounds of methamphetamine.
