EDINBURG: U.S. Border Patrol agents working in the Rio Grande Valley Sector rescued two undocumented immigrants and arrested two United States citizens in three separate incidents.
The first incident occurred at approximately 5 p.m., when Mobile Response Team agents working in the Sullivan City area assisted a woman from El Salvador who was suffering from dehydration and high blood pressure. She was transported via ambulance to a local hospital where she was treated and released.
Later, at approximately 7:40 p.m., agents assigned to the Sarita Checkpoint, while conducting checkpoint operations, referred the driver of a white Dodge Ram utility truck to the secondary inspection area. Upon further inspection, agents discovered 11 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Agents also discovered a fully loaded 9mm Ruger handgun hidden in a luggage bag. The driver and passenger of the truck were placed under arrest. The Kenedy County Sheriff’s Office took custody of the two U.S. citizens, weapon, marijuana and vehicle.
Finally, at approximately 8 p.m., agents assigned to the Kingsville Border Patrol Station responded to a telephone call regarding an undocumented Mexican male who suffered a snake bite and was unable to move. Responding agents called an ambulance and the man was transported to a Corpus Christi-area hospital where he remains under medical care.
The Rio Grande Valley Sector is part of the South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
