TEXAS: Two men were arrested under suspicion of smuggling more than $20,000 in methamphetamine that was seized at the Highway 86 Border Patrol checkpoint.
El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio Station stopped a 67-year-old man and his 20-year-old passenger who were trying to pass the checkpoint in a white Toyota Camry.
After the canine detection team referred the car to a secondary inspection, Border Patrol agents discovered that the passenger had more than 2 pounds of methamphetamine taped to his upper thighs.
The men, car and drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration agents for further investigation.
Last year, the El Centro Sector seized more than 445 pounds of methamphetamine.
