NEW YORK: U.S. Border Patrol agents have seized more than 920 pounds of marijuana to the Rio Grande City station, authorities said here the other day.
At about 7:35 a.m., agents observed multiple subjects north of the river engaged in suspected illegal activity. Agents saw what appeared to be narcotics being loaded into a white SUV, which then headed north from the river, according to a news release.
Several agents along with a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper responded to the area and found the SUV abandoned, with 13 large bundles wrapped in brown packaging tape that contained almost $740,000 worth of marijuana, the release said.
A search of the area also led to the apprehension of one individual, whose identity was not released.
