WASHINGTON: A US Customs and Border Protection officer died after crashing into a tree on Friday. Around 5:00pm, 41 year old Edgard Garcia was southbound on I-19 when he drove across the median, through the northbound lane, and crashed into a tree.
Authorities say at this time they are unsure as to why Garcia drove across the median. Arizona DPS says Garcia was wearing his seatbelt when he crashed but still sustained fatal injuries. A Nogales police officer posted a tribute to Garcia saying he was paying his “final respects.”
