Officers used a non-intrusive imaging system and discovered 11 packages of cocaine, weighing 28 pounds, hidden within the gray 2000 Ford Mustang, according to the agency release.

“I commend our frontline officers for their astute awareness and outstanding ability to detect inconsistencies with arriving travelers,” said Acting Port Director Javier Cantu, Hidalgo/ Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry in the news release. “Being able to distinguish between the norm and what appears out of place, is how our officers are able to discover smuggling activity.”

The officers arrested the man and seized the Ford Mustang and 11 packages of cocaine.

The 20-year-old was released into the custody of Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation.
