US customs arrests 3 suspects for smuggling at Port of Nogales

TUCSON: Customs and Border Protection officers arrested two Nogales, Arizona teens and a man residing in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico for their alleged involvement in separate smuggling attempts over the weekend at the Port of Nogales.
Officers at the Mariposa crossing referred a 15-year-old Nogales girl for further inspection Saturday (Oct. 10) when she entered the U.S. through a pedestrian lane. After a CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs under her clothing, officers found just more than a pound of methamphetamine worth more than $3,100.
At about the same time and same crossing, officers referred a 16-year-old girl for further inspection when she entered through a pedestrian lane. A day earlier, officers at the Morley Pedestrian crossing referred Ivan Octavio Romero-Aragon, 22, identified as a U.S. citizen living in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, for further inspection. A narcotics canine then alerted to his pants where officers found nearly eight ounces of marijuana worth just more than $200.
CBP officers seized all drugs and turned all suspects over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
