WASHINGTON: A 23-year-old was arrested after San Diego Border Patrol agents said he tried to smuggle six Mexican nationals into the United States.
The US citizen, not identified by agents, was charged federally with human smuggling; the six others also were arrested, according to a news release from the US Border Patrol.
Agents said they stopped at Chevrolet pickup on I-5 north of Oceanside. The driver had four passengers in the cab and two others lying down in the bed of the truck.
The seven people were taken to the Border Patrol checkpoint just south of San Clemente and later arrested.The pickup was seized by Border Patrol.
