SAN LUIS: A San Luis resident was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers after he attempted to smuggle $210,000 worth of drugs over the Port of San Luis.
The officers took 26-year-old Manuel Vega into custody after a CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted the officers of 56 packages containing almost 9.5 pounds of heroin and nearly 26 pounds of methamphetamine concealed within the dashboard of his Honda SUV.
The narcotics and vehicle were processed for seizure. Vega was referred to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
