BALTIMORE: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) at Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport arrested a Jamaican citizen Tuesday who was wanted by the Prince Georges County, Md. Police Department for Second Degree Assault.

Davanon Anthony Hopkins, of Hyattsville, Md., was scheduled to depart on a flight to Jamaica. CBP officers determined Hopkins to be subject to a warrant of arrest issued by the Prince Georges County Police Department for Second Degree Assault.  The officers verified the validity of the warrant and confirmed extradition. Hopkins was arrested by CBP and turned over to Maryland Transportation Authority Police for extradition.

“CBP stands ever vigilant in intercepting those travelers that our laws identify as needing further scrutiny,” said Dianna Bowman CBP Area Port Director for the Port of Baltimore.

CBP placed an immigration detainer on Hopkins, who is a U.S. permanent resident, which ensures that he is returned to CBP upon the adjudication of any charges for further immigration processing.

CBP conducts inspection operations and intercepts currency, weapons, prohibited agriculture products and other illicit items, and on average arrests 21 wanted persons a day at U. S. Ports of entry nationwide.
