NEW YORK: U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a Mexican national at the Hidalgo Port of Entry after he attempted to smuggle over 60 pounds of cocaine into the country, authorities say.
The narcotic was found hidden inside the sports utility vehicle the 49-year-old man was driving. Officers found a total of 25 packages of the substance during an inspection that was valued at $470,560.
The vehicle and the cocaine were confiscated by CBP, according to a news release.
Officers released the driver into the custody of Homeland Security Investigations.
