US Customs explorers prest colour during Miami Heat Pregame Ceremony

MIAMI: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) Officers representing the Miami/Tampa Field Offices oversee an Explorer program where young adults are mentored and learn about law enforcement careers within the federal government.CBP Explorers presented the colors at a Miami Heat game.

Just steps from Miami’s seaport, where Port Director Dylan DeFrancisci oversees one of America’s top maritime operations, the Miami Heat played the San Antonio Spurs at the American Airlines Arena on Feb 9. CBP Explorers from Post 99 presented the colors before the game which was televised nationally on TNT. Various players posed for photos with CBP personnel as did Miami Heat’s mascot Bernie.

“This was a great opportunity for CBP to continue its Border Community Liaison program under the leadership of Director Field Operations Diane Sabatino,” said Louis Gregory who manages Miami/Tampa Field Offices Communications Management Operations. “The Direct of Field Operations was very proud, once again, of the local Explorer Program and the efforts they continue making in furtherance of the program’s mission to enhance the Explorers experience and training.”CBP Explorers before Miami Heat game.

The CBP Law Enforcement Explorer Program is a work-based volunteer program for young adults interested in law enforcement. The program gives young people ages 14 to 21, the opportunity to learn about law enforcement careers first hand and serves as a stepping stone for a career in law enforcement. Explorers participate in community outreach activities which increases public awareness of CBP’s mission and role in securing our borders and communities.

Explorer Post 99 will host their inaugural Explorer’s Ball on Saturday, March 12, 2016 in Hialeah, Florida. The evening includes an opportunity to meet Post leadership and Explorers along with live entertainment and refreshments. For more information, call 305-764-4904.
