TUCSON: US Customs and Border Protection officers in Nogales seized nearly 111 pounds of heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine during separate incidents.

The largest seizure occurred Jan. 28 when CBP officers at the Dennis DeConcini crossing found 47 pounds of heroin and nearly 14 pounds of meth in a Dodge truck driven by a 36-year-old man from Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Officers found 30 packages of heroin, worth an estimated $666,000, and 10 packages of meth worth more than $41,000.
DeConcini officers discovered more than 23 pounds of cocaine, valued at $245,000, in the rear bumper of a Dodge sedan occupied by a 20-year-old woman and her 26-year-old boyfriend, both from Tucson.
Earlier that day, officers at the Mariposa crossing discovered more than 2.5 pounds of heroin, valued at more than $36,500, and nearly 24 pounds of methamphetamine, worth more than $71,500, in the floor of a Nissan sedan belonging to a 33-year-old woman from Nogales, Arizona.
Combined, all have a total value of nearly $1,061,000. Officers also seized all vehicles involved and turned the subjects over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
