NEW YORK: A 21-year-old man from Lyford was arrested after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found 165 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle, according to a news release.
The man, whose identity was not released, was arriving from Mexico at the Progresso Port of Entry when an inspection of his vehicle revealed 97 packages of marijuana hidden in the pickup truck he was driving. The narcotics had a street value of about $33,016, the release states.
The suspected smuggler was turned over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents for further investigation. His vehicle was seized along with the drugs he was found with.
