COLUMBUS: More than 2,000 pounds of marijuana were seized at the Columbus port of entry here the other day.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said the drugs were discovered in a flatbed trailer that was hauling a shipment of 80 20-foot-long steel pipes from Mexico.
Officials said 12 pipes were filled with steel containers and inside were the marijuana bundles.
Officers removed a total of 949 bricks filled with marijuana that weighed a total of 2,095 pounds.
The drugs have an estimated street value of $1,676,000.
No arrests were made and the investigation continues.
