TAXAS: Border Patrol agents in South Texas seized more than $5.1 million of marijuana in multiple incidents over the weekend, according to US Customs and Border Protection.
In the weekend’s largest seizure, a woman, who is a U.S. citizen, tried to smuggle roughly 3,500 pounds of marijuana valued at more than $2.7 million through the Falfurrias checkpoint roughly an hour from the US-Mexico border.
A K-9 officer alerted agents to the woman’s tractor-trailer, where they found 134 bundles of marijuana.
Other seizures brought the weekend total up to more than 6,400 pounds confiscated by agents.
