EDINBURG: Agents assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Sector disrupted the cash flow of drug smuggling organizations by seizing more than Marijuana seized by Rio Grande City Border Patrol Agents$3 million worth of marijuana over the past four days.
The bulk of the seizures came from agents of the Rio Grande City Station who confiscated approximately 2,400 pounds of marijuana in four separate incidents. The largest seizure occurred when agents working near Fronton attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The driver sped away but eventually abandoned the vehicle and more than 700 pounds of marijuana south of the intersection of U.S. Highway 83 and F.M. 650.
Several additional seizures brought the total amount of marijuana confiscated from Sunday through Wednesday to more than 3,800 pounds. The narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
