ROMA: A 50-year-old Mexican national was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border protection officers at the Roma Port of Entry after they found more than 50 pounds of methamphetamine and heroin in his vehicle, according to a news release.
The drugs were discovered during an inspection of the vehicle the suspected smuggler was using as he attempted to cross into the country through the Roma-Miguel Aleman International Bridge. According to the release, officers found 22 packages of methamphetamine weighing nearly 35 pounds and 10 packages of heroin weighing 16 pounds. The narcotics had a combined value of $1,349,214.
The driver was arrested and released to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for further investigation, the release states.
