TEXAS: Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents have seized 800 pounds marijuana nearly $3.8 million worth since the beginning of February.
The largest seizure occurred Tuesday night near Rio Grande City. As agents were checking a known smuggling area, they saw approximately 13 suspected smugglers walking north from the Rio Grande. When agents approached, the group dispersed into the thick brush and fled to Mexico. Upon searching the area, agents found more than 800 pounds of marijuana abandoned in the brush.
Several additional seizures brought the total amount of marijuana netted over the four-day span to more than 4,700 pounds.
