US Customs seizes 800 pounds of drugs worth $600k

YUMA: Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents seized more than 800 pounds of drugs in three days with an estimated value exceeding $600,000.

Nearly 800 pounds of marijuana were seized by agents near Sentinel, Ariz. when they captured 9 backpackers

Agents arrested two U.S. citizens and seized 15 pounds of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $8,013 in cash from their vehicle during a traffic stop near Ehrenberg April 24. The marijuana’s estimated value was $7,500.

During an immigration inspection at the Blythe, California, Greyhound Bus Station the following day, agents arrested a 24-year-old man with a border crossing card for attempting to smuggle 12 pounds of heroin worth in excess of $209,000.

On April 26, agents near Sentinel arrested nine illegal aliens attempting to smuggle 792 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $396,000. One alien was briefly hospitalized for blisters on his feet but was medically cleared.

All persons, drugs and vehicles involved in these incidents were processed per Yuma Sector guidelines.
