MIAMI: U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than 2 pounds of cocaine tucked inside fried fish at Miami International Airport over the weekend, authorities said.
The fish was being carried in the luggage of a passenger arriving from Jamaica Saturday morning, according to the agency’s field office in Miami.
The fish came under suspicion when an X-ray examination revealed some irregularities, investigators said. Those suspicions were confirmed when officers found that the bellies of some of the fish had been sewn together.
Inside the fatter fish, officers found roughly 2.3 pounds of cocaine, according to the agency.
