EL PASO: U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers made four drug busts at the El Paso port of entry.
CBP officials said 13 pounds of cocaine and 162 pounds of marijuana were seized when officers were performing a sweep of vehicles waiting to enter the U.S. from Mexico.
CBP officers arrested Erick Alonso Alvarado Talamantes for the attempting to smuggle in the cocaine at the Bridge of the Americas.
CBP drug sniffing dog alerted them to the engine of Talamantes’ truck and a white substance which tested positive for cocaine was found, according to officials.
“Smugglers went to great lengths to conceal these drug loads,” said Beverly Good, CBP El Paso port director. “CBP officers continue to work hard to stop all threats they encounter at the El Paso port of entry.”
The 162 pounds of marijuana were made in three separate busts.
