HIDALGO: U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge seized alleged cocaine valued at $138,000 during an enforcement action.
“Despite the relentless summer heat that our officers endure in south Texas, they remain vigilant and committed to the CBP mission. This seizure is a great example of their hard work and dedication,” said Port Director Efrain Solis Jr., Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzaludas Port of Entry.
The seizure occurred on July 6 at the Hidalgo International Bridge after CBP officers referred a white 2006 Ford Explorer to secondary for inspection. The truck was driven by a 43-year-old male Mexican citizen from Reynosa. After a physical inspection of the vehicle, the use of a non-intrusive imaging inspection (NII) and the assistance of a canine team, officers discovered seven packages allegedly containing approximately 18 pounds of cocaine.
CBP OFO seized the narcotics along with the vehicle, arrested the driver, and turned him over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents for further investigation.
