TUCSON: Customs and Border Protection officers at the Raul Hector Castro Port of Entry in Douglas, Arizona arrested a Mexican national June 26 for attempting to smuggle nearly 23 pounds of cocaine into the United States.
Officers referred a 32-year-old woman from Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico for a secondary inspection of the Chevrolet sedan and discovered multiple packages of cocaine worth more than $257,000, within a hidden compartment underneath the vehicle.
Officers seized the vehicle and drugs, and turned the woman over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
