Officers at the Dennis DeConcini crossing referred Juan Andres Gonzalez, 39, of Tucson, for further inspection of his Ford truck on Dec. 6. A CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs that turned out to be more than 15 pounds of heroin worth nearly $214,000.
On Dec. 5, officers at the DeConcini crossing referred Clemente Cota-Quintero, 42, of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, for further inspection of his Buick SUV. After a CBP canine alerted to the presence of drugs behind the vehicle’s glove compartment, officers found more than 23 pounds of cocaine worth almost $243,000.
Later that day at the DeConcini crossing, officers referred Andrea Medina, 34, of Tucson, for further inspection of her Fiat sedan. A canine team alerted to the dash area where officers found more than 24 pounds of meth worth nearly $73,000.
