LOS INDIOS: U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Los Indios International Bridge intercepted a load of alleged heroin. CBP officers discovered the alleged narcotics, valued at approximately $684,000, hidden within a green 1999 Ford F250 pick-up.
“I congratulate our officers for their constant vigilance which made this seizure possible,” said Port Director Petra Horne, Brownsville Port of Entry. “It is because of our officers’ diligence that these dangerous narcotics were kept from entering our country and reaching our streets.”
The seizure took place on Monday, Dec. 21, at Los Indios International Bridge when a 30-year-old female United States citizen who resides in Houston, Texas, applied for entry into the United States driving a green 1999 Ford F250 pick-up. The driver was referred to CBP secondary for further examination. With the help of a K-9 unit, CBP officers discovered 13 packages hidden within the vehicle. CBP officers removed the packages, which contained a total of 30.16 pounds of alleged heroin.
The estimated street value of the narcotics from the seizure is approximately $684,000.
CBP officers seized the narcotics along with the vehicle, arrested the driver and turned him over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.
