On Feb 6, officers selected Jesus Alfredo Vera-Martinez, 27, of Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico, for further inspection of his Nissan SUV and found almost 68 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $34,000, beneath the vehicle’s carpeting.
Officers seized the drugs and vehicles, and referred both subjects to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
