TUCSON: More than 200 packages of marijuana was seized by federal officers Tuesday after they found it hidden in the roof of a semi-trailer truck loaded with produce.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Nogales said the pot is worth more than $970,000.
Officers said a CBP narcotics-detection dog alerted to the marijuana after the vehicle was flagged for further inspection at the Mariposa Commercial Facility.
Officers seized the pot, the vehicle and produce and the 43-year-old Mexican driver was handed over
Tuesday’s seizure was the second such find in less than two weeks. On May 23, officers seized 1,992 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $996,000, within the roof of another produce shipment.
