DEL RIO: U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Del Rio International Bridge recently discovered more than $8,000 worth of suspected narcotics hidden in a vehicle coming from Mexico.CBP officers seized 7 ounces of crystal methamphetamine.
“CBP officers display exemplary vigilance in keeping narcotics from reaching our communities,” said Port Director Alberto D. Perez, Del Rio Port of Entry. “This seizure is yet another example of the dedication and professionalism our frontline CBP officers put forth on a daily basis.”
On June 2, CBP officers, working at the Del Rio Port of Entry, inspected a 1999 Chevy Tahoe as it arrived in the United States from Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico. During inspection, CBP officers discovered a package of suspected narcotics hidden in a container of hand cleaner in the cargo area of the vehicle. Officers seized 7 ounces of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated value of $8,593.
The driver, a 33-year-old Del Rio man, a U.S. citizen, was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for federal prosecution.
CBP’s Del Rio Port of Entry is part of the Joint Task Force-West South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
