RIO GRANDE CITY: U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Rio Grande City Port of Entry arrested a man from Sullivan City, Texas after discovering $865,000 worth of alleged methamphetamine and heroin within the Chevy Cruze he was driving.

Gonzalez, Rio Grande City Port of Entry. “We want to emphasize that CBP Field Operations is always vigilant, and maintains that steadfast vigilance at all border crossings throughout this nation.”
Packages containing 26 pounds of methamphetamine, 12.5 pounds of heroin seized by CBP officers at Rio Grande City Port of EntryOn March 30, CBP officers assigned to the Rio Grande City, Texas Port of Entry encountered a 25-year-old male United States citizen, driving a red 2012 Chevy Cruze arriving from Mexico. After referring the driver and vehicle for further examination and with the use of all available tools and resources, officers discovered packages of suspected narcotics concealed within the Chevy sedan. CBP OFO removed 11 packages of alleged methamphetamine weighing approximately 26 pounds and six packages of alleged heroin weighing nearly 12.5 pounds. The estimated street values of the narcotics are $520,000 and $345,000 respectively.
CBP OFO seized the vehicle and arrested the man who was subsequently released to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents for further investigation.
