BROWNSVILLE: Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Gateway International Bridge intercepted a load of alleged methamphetamine valued at approximately $755,700, hidden within a Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
“The vigilance demonstrated by our CBP officers played a key role in preventing these dangerous drugs from entering our country and reaching our streets,” said Port Director Petra Horne, Brownsville Port of Entry.
On Tuesday, June 23, CBP officers working at Brownsville’s Gateway International Bridge encountered a white 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac driven by a 41-year-old male United States citizen who resides in Brownsville, Texas. A secondary examination, with the use of all available tools and resources revealed packages hidden within the vehicle. CBP officers removed 27 packages from the vehicle which contained a total of 37.79 pounds of alleged methamphetamine.
CBP officers seized the narcotics along with the vehicle, arrested the driver and turned him over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents for further investigation.
