LAREDO: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry seized a significant amount of alleged crystal methamphetamine during an enforcement action this weekend with a value of over $1 million.
“Interdicting this hard narcotic is a prime example of hard work and experience of our CBP officers,” said (A) Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “Once again this seizure demonstrates the dedication of our officers to CBP’s border security mission.”
The incident occurred at Lincoln-Juarez Bridge on Saturday, May 21, when a CBP officer referred a 2000 Ford Explorer driven by a 28-year-old male Mexican citizen from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon for a secondary examination. A canine inspection was conducted in which the canine alerted to the vehicle. An inspection of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 68 pounds of crystal methamphetamine valued at $1,371,261.
CBP officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle. The driver and case were then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
