ST. JOHN: U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers and National Park Service Rangers along with the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) apprehended 11 undocumented immigrants in the southeastern side of the island.
VIPD officers found the group of undocumented immigrants wandering around Coral Bay. CBP Field Operations works with partners to addres threats in the USVI
“Our officers cooperate with other law enforcement agencies in the enforcement of U.S. laws by ensuring that individuals who have circumvented immigration inspection and attempt to elude detection are identified and detained” stated Area Port Director Louis Harrigan.
Once found, VIPD officers made contact with Virgin Islands National Park Service Rangers and Customs and Border Protection officers.
Within the group of 11 undocumented immigrants, 5 claimed to be nationals of Haiti and the remaining 6 claimed to be nationals of India.
All 11 undocumented immigrants were processed by CBP Office of Field Operations and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement for further disposition.
