US dollar rises by Rs 1.70 in open market to Rs 163.5

KARACHI: On the last trading day of the week, the US dollar rose once again in both open market and interbank, increasing by Rs1.70 and Rs1.12 respectively.

The US dollar had swiftly risen from Rs158 to Rs167 after the first case of coronavirus was reported in Pakistan on February 26, before the rupee steadily recovered back to Rs160.

After six Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, the US dollar has risen against the rupee during the first two trading days, with the US currency rising by Rs1.70 against the rupee in the open market to Rs163.50.

It may be recalled that the dollar had risen by Rs0.80 to Rs161.80 in the open market yesterday.

On the other hand, like the open market, the US dollar also appreciated in the interbank market. In the interbank market, the US currency rose by Rs 0.12 to Rs 163.10 per dollar.

The US dollar has risen by Rs2.18 against the rupee in the last two trading days on the interbank market.
