NEW YORK: The US government is imposing preliminary antidumping duties on Chinese imports of certain passenger vehicle and light truck tyres, the Department of Commerce announced on Wednesday.
In its preliminary report on its investigation, the department determined that certain tyre imports from China were being sold in the US at dumping margins of 19.17-87.99%.Dumping occurs when a foreign company sells a product in the US at less than its fair value.
As a result of its findings, the department is instructing US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to require cash deposits based on these preliminary rates.
