FLORIDA: The Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce received a finalist award for the 2015 Chamber of the Year program in mid-August at the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) Annual Convention.The Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce returned recently from the 101st Annual Convention of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives where they interviewed for the award of Chamber of the Year in Category One (Chamber with budgets of $500,000 or less).
The Chamber did not bring home the top award, but was recognized as one of the three best chambers this year in North America.The Chamber competed against the Coweta County, GA., and Shawnee, Kans., chambers of commerce for the title. The Coweta County Chamber was named as this year’s awardee.This is the third time the Chamber has been a finalist in the Chamber of the Year competition. The organization was also honored in 2005 and 2014.
“We gave it our best effort,” said Lisa Krueger, the Chamber’s president and CEO, in a news release. “Two of the four judges let us know after the announcement that our application was great and our interview very, very good. Of course we’re disappointed to not bring home the big trophy, but are honored to make it to the finals again this year.”Traveling to Montreal, Canada, for the convention was Krueger along with Jeni Coke, the Chamber’s director of membership and special events, and board member Michele Webb, who is the CEO of Havasu Pest Control.
