In its third year, the 2015 event showcased individuals from all walks of life including salespeople, agency representatives and community activists. According to Cheryl Lindus, vice president of The Star Press and M Magazine, the event aims to celebrate the work of those people who are trying to bring about positive change who are emerging as leaders within East Central Indiana, (ECI)” Lindus said. “They’re focused on their communities, on their families and on their careers.”
The individuals honored Tuesday were all first-time recipients of the 20 Under 40 award, she said. And while there isn’t an expressed set of criteria for nomination, Lindus noted that those who were recognized were all nominated by members of their own communities.”We look for where their focus is in leadership we look at it holistically and where they are focused,” she said. “We really look at servant leadership.”
