MONTGOMERY: Special agents with the Narctotics Unit of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation last week seized 2,034 marijuana plants.
The seizures were part of the state’s eradication efforts. According to ALEA, summer marks the beginning of the growing season for the only major drug grown domestically.
“Within the first week, the SBI seized almost half of the total seized during the 2014 eradication operation,” SBI Director Gene Wiggins said.
Over the next several weeks, state agents will work with county and city law agencies across Alabama to locate and destroy marijuana plants.
