COVINGTON: Officially Newton County a prime target for attracting major economic developments. A meeting of local community and business leaders in Covington on typifies many Dave Bernd and Serra Phillips Hall has been conducting lately on the topic of how Newton County can create desirable and necessary economic growth in an orchestrated way.
The session was requested by a few members of the public who were having lunch with Bernd, vice president of economic development for the Covington Newton Chamber of Commerce. They told them they knew of a group of citizens who would be interested in attending the presentation the Chamber had been giving.
Bernd and Hall, senior project manager at the Chamber of Commerce, headed Monday’s discussion, held in the Chamber’s economic development conference room.
It lasted more than three hours and included an impressive Prezi presentation on the numerous video screens sprinkled across the conference room in The Center Bernd pointed out that eastern Newton County is only 45 minutes from 2.5 million people living in the metro Atlanta mega polis.
