OAKLAND: A security officer at Oakland International Airport has been accused of using her job to help smuggle drugs through the airport.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the 28-year-old Mateo resident is accused of manipulating X-ray machines at security checkpoints so her partners could pass through with carry-on bags full of marijuana.
According to an indictment unsealed Thursday by a federal grand jury, this operating went on from September 2013 until this October and successfully moved 100 kilograms or more of marijuana.
The security officer had her initial court appearance Thursday in U.S. District Court in Oakland. She is charged with four counts of conspiracy, two counts of obstructing the operations of the Transportation Security Administration and two counts of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
